This may be heresy to some of you reading this, but I do not play video games. (I do like watching people play them, however. Weird) Anyway, I'll keep this short and sweet.

I hate final fantasy.

Each time I start to research a monster idea - they've done it. It's like that "Simpson's did it" joke. Now, it makes sense. In a game where you have to beat up and kill a buncha monsters, you gotta have a buncha monsters, but it gives me pause as I plow though my monsters just knowing some console junkie is gonna try and call me out because my ****** is nothing like the one they played in FFXII.

So, I coin a new joke...."Final Fantasy did it!"

Final Fantasy is what got me into tabletop gaming when it stopped being enough for me. I imagine I'm not alone in this. Don't knock one of the top converters of RPGers in the last twenty years.

Im the opposite, I don't play tabletop games but FF has given me some knowledge of how it works...once in awhile I can recognize a monster whenever Wes or Jacobs talk about them!

I'd never thought about it in that fashion, but you're right, it is like the Simpsons! And here I had this great idea for a monster that was all fiery and exploded and kinda looked like a bomb! Heheh....

Regardless though...I haven't really enjoyed a Final Fantasy since FFVIII. They've been...okay, but not the games I played when I was younger. Perhaps its an issue of my wanting more from a game in my more mature years, or perhaps its the fact that since FFX, you can't free roam the world anymore...its all paths. That idea, whoever came up with it...is an extremely stupid one. Kinda like railroading your players in a D&D campaign...not a good idea if you want them to be interested and vested in their characters.
